L.A.-based photographer Tom Kubik was looking to rebrand his identity to create a more updated representation of his work and practice and expand his reach to new projects and audiences. In this interview we talked about  his views on branding and our collaboration.

Tom reached out to us to refresh his logo and aesthetic, so that it would be a more accurate representation of his contemporary portfolio and really evoke the essence of his personality and the way he relates to the lens and the people he photographs.  He was well aware of the impact a strong branding can have in how his project is perceived and how it could highlight his uniqueness in this oversaturated market.

“I think branding is super important because it’s how people identify with your work… People can really feel a good brand as much as a good product. It’s your first impression and since there are so many photographers right now, it’s important to have a creative voice.”  – Tom Kubik, founder of Tom Kubik Photography

What makes Tom stand out are his values and approach, which became the guidelines that led this project. It was imperative to communicate his authenticity, honesty and approachable personality in a way that still reflected his tenure and experience.

“I pride myself on being as human as possible in my different explorations (sobriety, lifestyle, etc.) and showing a truthful reality. In the current world context, we’re all being bombarded with technology, from apps to AI,  which is why I find it so important that we delve deeper into beautiful human moments. ”

Tom mentioned that this was his first time working with a design agency and that though he didn’t really know what to expect, his experience was insightful, positive and surprising.

“I was so glad to be able to see your process. The conversations we had showed me that you were truly listening… Which was clear in the visual proposals: I gave you ingredients and you gave me a whole menu using them, but you also included your unique vision, showing me options I hadn’t contemplated that conceptually and visually represented me… Overall, it was a great experience.”  – Tom

We love collaborating with creative individuals that are truly passionate about what they do and have a clear vision of their projects, Tom is a great example of this profile and we look forward to seeing his project continue to grow.
